This photograph shows the boys in their white coats carrying out physics experiments (white coats were a feature of the school uniform).

At Villiers Street Tech, the highlight of each year, for me and others was the annual trip to the Middleton School Camp during the Whitsuntide holiday where we hiked and trekked through the Tees-dale countryside for a week. We walked for miles every day visiting, the High Force Waterfall, the Cauldron Snout rapids, the wobbly Wynch Bridge, a suspension bridge over a gorge where only one person at a time was permitted to cross and a scramble up Kirk Carrion a huge hill with a forest of trees at the top. We were amply fed by the ladies from the village, with spud bashing was the only chore that we had to endure. Happy days long gone but vividly remembered for the fun that we had.
