How to insert images inside your email

Embedding an Image in Emails (Outlook Express)

If you want your image to display in the middle of some text, you need to Embed the image into the actual e-mail, and it's extremely easy to do. This is totally different to Attaching an image and if you embed it, you DON'T need to attach it as well. The image is stored hidden right inside the e-mail as a series of numbers, which is how digital images are constructed.

Step (1) Place your cursor where you want the image to appear in your text (so you can merge it into the text) then click Insert from the Top Menu and select Picture...

Browsing for your image

Step (2) Click Browse, then navigate to where your image is stored on your computer:-

Naviagate to where you keep all your images

Step (3) Now select the image you want and click Open, then the attribute box will re-appear.

Setting the attributes of an image

You can either just click OK, or select some of the other optional image attributes?

Of course, you have to send your message in the default setting of Rich Text HTML or it won't work. If you have altered the setting to Plain Text, you'll need to alter it back. Create a new e-mail to yourself and try them all out. You can't hurt or damage anything. Happy e-mailing!

Attaching an Image to an Email (Outlook Express)

Step (1) Open Outlook Express, then select Create Mail from the top menu. Type in the From:  To: and Subject: information as you do normally when creating a new email.

Step (2) Click Insert from the top menu, then select File Attachment. In the new box that appears, navigate to the location of where you stored the image to send. This will usually be in your My Documents folder.

Step (3) Use the Down chevron (indicated by the red arrow) to navigate to a different folder, if the one shown is not the folder where the image is stored.

Save As Box

Step (4) When the image is located, click on it, and the name will appear in the File name box. Click Attach and that's it. The image name and size will appear in a new space directly below the Subject box in your email. Note that the image will not be visible to you until you click Send and view the email in your Outbox.

Attachment

An extra note on sending attached images. Due to the danger of attachments, some people disable the ability to receive them, depending on the email client that they use.
