Security settings

Note: Make sure you select Scripting - Active scripting. This will disable Javascript when surfing the Internet, but Javascript will still work off-line (i.e. when using your computer locally). It is not necessary to Reboot your computer for this to take effect, and can be Re-Enabled at any time, even while you are surfing. Some sites rely on Javascript, so you may notice that these sites don't work correctly or display differently.

Disabling Javascript in the Firefox browser

This is very easy to do in this browser.

  1. Go into your Firefox browser
  2. Click Tools from the top menu
  3. Select Options from the list
  4. Select Content from the Options at the top
  5. Untick Enable Javascript
  6. Click OK and it's done

To reverse this procedure, go back into Firefox and tick "Enable Javascript". You don't need to reboot for this to take effect, and you can do this while you're surfing.

Disabling Javascript in the Opera browser

This is even easier to do.

  2. Click Tools from the top menu
  3. Select Quick Preferences from the list

  5. And that's it

To reverse this procedure, return and tick "Enable Javascript". No need to reboot.
