Am looking for info on how to find my great aunt emma , so the story goes she married and emmigrated to canada, thing is i can't find a marriage certificate for her,as i don't know whether she married here or there, i know she was still emma mortimer in 1918 at her mothers 2nd marriage, but after that nothing at all. i know she wasn't present at her mothers death in 1937.emmigration records don't help,as again was she married or not, passenger lists have several emma mortimers but not exact age.and again did she have her maiden name or her married name.am visiting kew record centre soon to look at passports.so any info or someone a lot more experienced than me to look up marriages for emma marion mortimer born croydon 1888.(england)

Hi Kimberley,
You didn't give a great deal of info about Ann Smeaton and George Hill, so I'm guessing you're new at this family tree thing?
Have you tried http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/
It's free until you want to contact someone?
When you get stuck, you need to start tracing the Birth, Marriage and death certificates, but this can get quite expense.
There is also http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ which as the name suggests is free, but the records are not complete yet.

Stockport uk huh? well I'm in America, Here you can usually track someone down through taxes? Try a people search on the internet? It cost like 15 dollars and usually they track people down by residency and taxes... just google "people finder" and pay 15 dollars. I take it your sister is alive still? Good luck and love the ones you got.

My maternal Grandfather was born in Norfolk in 1885, unfortunately I do not know the town or village where he was born. He married Florence Grace Saunderson in Thetford in 1919 and then went to India with her, he was in the Suffolk Regiment. I would love to know his place of birth and whether he had any brothers or sisters. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Date: Friday 28th March 2008 at 2:08 AMHello Wendy
you may even have information on my great X 2 grandfather. I, unfortunately, can visit any of the sites due to my geographical location (South Australia). The relative of mine marries a Sarah Emberton. I have their marriage certificate. He was a cordwainer ( shoe maker), and gives his father's name as Henry. Looking through the BDM records on line, I can not find a Henry with a Henry as his father for the time he was born - abt 1847 in middlesex. Do you have anyone in your tree that sounds similar to my relic?
best
Lisa
